Situated on the mountain as you drive through the Piekenierskloof Pass, Carmién Tea is your first stop on the rooibos route and the gateway to the Cedarberg.
Although Carmién Tea is well- established as an international export brand, it is particularly well-known in local retail for its innovative and extensive range of herbal blends and flavoured rooibos products. Our most recent introduction is a range of cold brew teas. A convenient, delicious, on-the-go tea that perfectly suits our motto of living a healthy active lifestyle. We also offer a range of teaware and accessories, as well as limited edition Carmién branded activewear.
At Carmién we believe in offering you a direct link from crop to cup, ensuring total food traceability whilst offering superior quality organic and conventional rooibos. Founder and now managing director, Mientjie Mouton grew up on Bergendal farmwith her twin sister Carmen Niehaus, well-known as the previous food editor of You and Huisgenoot - hence the name Carmién (which suitably also means red). Here we handle the whole process from harvesting, processing to packing.
Our popular tourist stop is the Carmién Tea Shop at De Tol Farm Deli, just off the N7, located on the Piekenierskloof Pass. Here we offer pre-booked tastings and a video presentation of our tea story. Be sure to join us for exciting rooibos tasting and pairing experiences from R70 pp, ideal for small and/or larger groups.
